DROP-IN CLASSES

Payment is most easily done in advance or onsite through @bt-slo on Venmo.

New students: Allow time to sign a liability waiver at the studio before your first drop-in class.

TUITION & CLASS MANAGEMENT Tuition payments are managed through each student's Studio Director account. Once registered, tuition is charged automatically on a monthly basis via the credit card associated with your Studio Director account. Charges occur on the 3rd of each month for that month’s tuition. To DROP a class, please contact our team at info@bt-slo.org. Any changes must be completed before the 3rd of each month.

CLASS POLICIES LATE STUDENTS may only enter the dance studio within 10 minutes of the start of class with permission from the teacher. Latecomers arriving more than 10 minutes late may/may not be permitted to participate in class at the discretion of the teacher. ABSENCES & VACATIONS: Our teachers tailor each class to the students present. Please notify BT‐SLO via text, email, or phone call if you are unable to make your scheduled class. 24hr advance notice is preferred, if possible. MAKE UP CLASSES: “Make up” for your class absences within 30 days from the date of the absence. The make up class should be at or below the class level for the student.

ADULT'S BEGINNING BALLET

This program is designed for teens and adults who:

Danced when they were younger and wants to get back into ballet
Interested in ballet but don't want to dance with children or advanced students
Are a complete beginner who wants to take your FIRST ballet class

CHILDREN'S BALLET

Our children's ballet classes are focused on movement theory, rhythm, musicality, expression, and the freedom of dancing. From the youngest age, we strive to teach aspiring dancers the how and why of classic ballet vocabulary and technique. We aim to build a solid foundation on which more advanced steps will later build.

PRE-BALLET FOR TINY DANCERS

An introduction to ballet for our youngest dancers ages 4 - 6!

Classes are based on a folk and ballet syllabus teaching ballet theory, musicality and theatrical storytelling. These beginning classes teach the foundation for future advanced ballet technique courses and professional-level performance.

OUR SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY

We believe that it is a privilege for us to run our own ballet school. Our goal is to provide professional-level ballet technique classes to every student at every level. From our beginning adults to tiny pre-ballet dancers to pre-professional dancers, we are committed to ensuring each student improves throughout their time with us.

Our teachers care deeply about each student's progress. They prepare for each class and customize sessions based on their students. Teachers work directly with students so they can improve and advance in their knowledge, capabilities, stamina, craft, and facility in ballet.

Our classes aim to capture the spirit, joy, challenge, and triumph of ballet. Instructors offer proper coaching and individualized corrections to ensure that movements are done correctly to avoid injury, advance technique, and improve performance. Students will build a foundation of knowledge of why movements occur as they do. We believe that the lessons of perseverance, dedication, focus, discipline, and a love for learning expand to every area of one's life.

Studying classical ballet is serious and challenging work. We want our students to enjoy the process of studying this timeless art, gaining the satisfaction of constant progress, and finding themselves ballet.

Performance is a natural extension to ballet class. Students of BT-SLO attending classes are all invited but not required to participate in performances or our productions. However, our productions and performances provide a unique opportunity for students at every level to advance their skills technically and performing artists.

Starting in 2023, when a BT-SLO student refers a new student that enrolls for their first month of classes:

YOU (our existing student) will receive a $25 gift card to your choice of Pink & Black Dance Shop or Discount Dance Supply

THEY (our new student) will receive a $25 credit upon signup to use towards their first month's tuition

YOU (our existing student) will receive a second $25 gift card and a special edition BT-SLO swag once your referral stays and pays for three consecutive months

If you are not enrolled in a class that you want to bring a friend to, you can take your friend to their 1st class for free!
