2006
Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo was born

BT-SLO began partnering with American Dance of SLO
2009
BT-SLO helped to establish Dance Obispo (DO)
​
For 4 years, DO was the for-profit dance school and BT-SLO was the nonprofit performing company. Until DO moved on to other endeavors and closed.
2013
BT-SLO expanded its nonprofit mission to include a dance school in addition to the performing company
2014
After moving to a couple of temporary spaces, BT-SLO found its permanent studio at our current location on Higuera St.
BT-SLO is single 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (ID: 20-8393945) with two major functions:
SCHOOL OF BALLET
Our School offers dance instruction to train and inspire all ages of dancers and artists. Our classes are based on the fundamental techniques of ballet and dance. Students learn how the body works to produce dance movement. We welcome dancers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. PERFORMING BALLET COMPANY
Our Performing Ballet Company has produced a wide range of original ballets and ballets from the classical repertoire. Our goal is to perfect what we present on the stage and remain true to the 300+ year tradition of telling stories on stage through dance and performance. We believe everyone should experience the exhilaration of being a part of a professional ballet! We proudly provide opportunities for all dancers to perform meaningful work in real theaters.
